50th Anniversary Focus: Air Quality
The North Central Texas Council of Governments is celebrating the 50th anniversary this year of its status as the metropolitan planning organization for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This month, we focus on Air Quality, which has been important to transportation in the region for decades. Ten of the region’s counties are in nonattainment for ozone pollution. Dallas-Fort Worth is pursuing two ozone standards: 75 parts per billion (2008) and 70 ppb (2015). This graphic demonstrates the progress made in improving the ozone concentration and some of the ways you can help the region meet attainment of the standards.
Air quality will become more of a concern as the summer approaches. Under the scorching summer sun, ozone is typically highest. But you don’t have to wait to make an impact. You can make small changes to your routine throughout the year. Sign up for air quality alerts and learn more about how you can help improve our air at AirNorthTexas.org.
