    ABOUT AIR NORTH TEXAS

    WHAT
    Air North Texas is a regional public awareness campaign and partnership that seeks to improve air quality in North Texas.

    WHO
    The campaign was formed by the North Central Texas Council of Governments with support of a task force made up of government agencies, nonprofit organizations, transportation authorities and others.

    HOW
    Air North Texas offers all North Texans, including individuals, businesses and governments, resources related to improving air quality. Air North Texas Annual Reports offer details about how the campaign is implemented. 

    WHY
    Ten counties in North Texas fall under nonattainment for the pollutant ozone, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). North Texas must meet ozone emissions standards as set by the EPA or face federal sanctions. The Air North Texas campaign was created to help alleviate the air quality problem in our region.

    MEET ARLO

    Rolled Arlo
    Arlo is not a typical armadillo; he's an airmadillo! He's special because his shell changes color based on the Air Quality Index. Arlo suffers from asthma, so this special trait helps him know when he can play outside (when he is green or yellow), and when he should limit his outdoor activity (when he is orange or red).
    Arlo in Car
    Arlo does his part to improve air quality by choosing clean air choices, like carpooling or biking with friends instead of driving alone. He encourages all North Texans to do the same so that we can all breathe clean air.
    Arlo Baseball
    Arlo was born in Arlington, Texas and is proud to call the University of Texas at Arlington his alma mater. He loves spending time outdoors and his favorite hobbies include riding his bike and playing baseball. Even though his eyesight isn't great, Arlo is a great hitter when he's up at bat!
