Congratulations to the City of Grand Prairie!
Based on the criteria in the Air North Texas Partner Agreement and information provided in the annual progress report, the City of Grand Prairie was named Air North Texas Partner of the Year!
The City of Grand Prairie consistently shared ANTx advertising content through social media, billboards, newsletters, and promotional items. This includes 44 social media posts reaching over 31,000 people, publishing 13 newsletters, and displaying five digital billboards that garnered 4.1 million impressions. The city also actively engaged the community through participation in 13 events, including the mayor's 5K, Earth Day celebrations, and Clean Air Action Day activities. Grand Prairie also hosted their seventh annual Clean Air Industry Challenge that encouraged industry participation and fostered innovative approaches to air quality education within workplaces, which inspired 12 industries to participate, yielding 258 pledges. Grand Prairie's multifaceted approach effectively raised awareness, promoted community involvement, and drove tangible actions to improve air quality.
City of Dallas
Outstanding Initiative
Dallas was recognized for its outstanding initiative in promoting air quality through its proactive approach to addressing air quality and promoting clean air practices. Dallas held an Air Sensor Summit, which convened stakeholders and experts to discuss innovative air monitoring programs. Dallas also enhanced public awareness by integrating Air North Texas resources into key platforms like GreenDallas.net and the Dallas Climate Action website. The city utilized creative efforts, including videos featuring Arlo on social media platforms and at public events, such as the SMU and Dallas Executive Airport promotion, which gained media coverage from CBS News and the Dallas Morning News.
City of Cedar Hill
Outstanding Outreach
Cedar Hill received praise for its outstanding outreach by actively engaging with its community on air quality topics and the Air North Texas campaign. Cedar Hill utilized various methods to engage residents, such as including Air North Texas (ANT) articles in their monthly newsletter that is sent to 14,500 residents. In addition, they distributed AQI flyers at every outdoor city event and made birding backpacks with ANT materials available for checkout at the library. Cedar Hill also hosted numerous special events throughout the year, such as its Back-to-School Rally and its first annual Clean Air Action Day Celebration, which provides opportunities to raise awareness about clean air. They have also implemented the "I Love Clean Air" selfie campaign with Arlo for both indoor and outdoor events, resulting in over 4,000 selfies since its inception.
City of Plano
Outstanding Education
Plano was honored for its outstanding education efforts in promoting Air North Texas. Plano informed residents about air quality and Clean Air Action Day by offering a variety of educational programs, including online learning modules on green building and energy conservation, presentations on air quality and energy efficiency, and tours of the Environmental Education Center (EEC), which showcases sustainable building practices. Plano also partnered with organizations like the University of Texas at Dallas to collect air quality data and Solar United Neighbors to promote the adoption of solar energy.
City of Cedar Hill
Arlo Ambassador
Cedar Hill was named Arlo Ambassador for their innovative and engaging use of Arlo. Cedar Hill created "Flat Arlo," a portable version of Arlo that residents can take on outings and share photos of, fostering a sense of community involvement in clean air efforts. They also implemented the "Arlo Promise," encouraging citizens to make pledges for clean air actions while holding Arlo. They designed Arlo coloring pages and bookmarks and included Arlo prominently on folders given away at the back-to-school rally, filled with information about clean air. They even created a fun and educational "Arlo Toss" game that teaches participants about the Air Quality Index using color-coded bean bags.
